Social Media Manager
-
Jan 2021 - Present
As the social media manager for FITC, I am responsible for creating, editing, sharing, and scheduling content on social media platforms, relating to FITC's various events throughout the year. I am in charge of the day-to-day social content being posted and the engagement efforts with our audiences on the different platforms, but I also contribute to planning FITC's overall communications strategy, which also includes the company website. Within Mailchimp, I also write, copyedit, test, and give input on the various emails sent out to our audiences. Additionally, I assist our technical production team with the various events FITC holds (which are currently virtual until in-person events can resume after the pandemic). My role involves editing documents in the earlier stages of the event planning process (Requests For Proposals, sponsorship packages, etc.), and assisting with event-day production tasks (eg. moderating audience chatrooms, coordinating on-screen prompts with verbal emcee cues, etc.). I’m also in charge of updating and maintaining the FITC Jobs webpage, where I upload industry relevant job postings regularly during the week for the FITC community. This task involves website maintenance through WordPress, and searching for open roles via LinkedIn, our industry partners’ websites, communication with industry partners, and our Twitter network. This role requires detailed tracking of various projects, as we are working on many events being held at different times and at different stages of planning. Some of these events are for private clients, some are smaller professional development sessions, and others are large-scale events that require months of planning and working with external stakeholders and sponsors. I keep track of our varying social media posting schedules and content (for each platform and each project), and assist in maintaining our project management documents. Show less

In this role, I process client bookings for DRT specialized services, such as cancellations, changes, and confirmations, in addition to answering questions and generally promoting a positive DRT experience and image. I also communicate with and assist DRT drivers, by finding information, contacting late clients, covering extra shifts, and troubleshooting schedule conflicts. Additionally, I liaise with our local taxi company partners for extra coverage within Durham Region, and communicate with other specialized services organizations to ensure timely and accurate client transfers. This is a role with many complex factors, including a need for discretion, compassion, and sensitivity. As a Specialized Services Dispatcher, I assist a variety of individuals with specialized needs and different vulnerabilities, while also supporting our drivers and the DRT brand. This role requires the extensive use of Microsoft Office tools, such as Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint, as well as Trapeze, a complex transportation management software program, on Windows PCs. Using Trapeze, I book, change, verify, and cancel client trips, assign vehicles to DRT drivers, and create, optimize, modify, and move driver schedules. Show less

I safely transport passengers around Durham Region, provide high standard of customer service and brand support, and communicate emerging transit and passenger complications to my transit supervisors and DRT operators through two-way radio. As an operator in the Specialized Services department, I provide door-to-door accessible transportation, following AODA laws. My team and I collaborate to enrich the lives of our most vulnerable community members, by helping them get to doctors' appointments, work, school, day programs, community events, and so much more. In essence, we help our community members go places they might not be able to reach otherwise. Show less

Freelance Photographer
-
2010 - Present
As a freelance photographer, I specialize in animal, sport and event photography, as well as candid photography and portraiture. I shoot with professional DSLR equipment (both Canon and Nikon). I work with my clients to best showcase their ideas and personalities, while also providing excellent customer service and enthusiasm. I also work with Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom for post-production, on both Microsoft and Apple operating systems. In this role, I often have tight deadlines (as tight as same-day and 12-hour timelines), and work with varying venues and locations. Because of this, I am an adaptable photographer, doing my best to turn issues and obstacles into dynamic and creative aspects for my photos. Show less

Contract Instructional Designer
-
Oct 2018 - Nov 2018
Primarily working in PowerPoint, I created learning solutions with a small team of designers and developers for a client based in Canada. Working on this project meant I had to pay close attention to branding guidelines, style preferences and client feedback while balancing theoretical principles of instructional design. This project arose out of the need for the client to train their employees on the tasks involved in their roles, with the added benefit of creating 'refresher material' for their existing employees and supervisors. This was a design-heavy project with restrictions on image use and language. Using client-provided storyboards and content outline, my team and I designed PowerPoint slides that would be used as screens in a digital education application tool that would be custom-developed by Metrix's developers. This project also required concise and condensed writing, as the screens could not be too text-heavy or too complex. Additionally, I had to pay special attention to the transitions used to introduce each asset on each slide, and coordinate the movements of these assets with the corresponding narration. Show less
