My primary duties involved managing the outsourcing of IA32 workstation hardware testing with Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) in Asia and local contract workers. Through travel and phone conferences, I worked with the ODM engineers to ensure that schedules and quality levels were met. I also managed a portion of the local testing of motherboard subsystems, system components, 64-bit Windows, XP and Vista, and RAID configurations; this involved leading the efforts of several contract employees. This job greatly improved my troubleshooting skills, my organization and communication, as well as my technical knowledge of the workstation systems as a whole. I gained valuable experience in managing people, working with many different teams, and presenting in front of groups. I learned to handle the many challenges of working with ODMs in Asia, which included cross-cultural issues, language differences, remote communication, time differences, and varying work ethics.
