During a period of seven years following graduation from medical school and prior to residency in Neurosurgery in the USA, developed clinical experience in Acute Care, Anesthesia, Hyperbaric and Diving Medicine, Critical Care, Neurocritical Care and Neurosurgery, in various International and remote locations. Served as a Medical Officer, Neurosurgery from 2006 to 2008 at at an academic medical center at University of the Free State in South Africa. Served as a Medical Officer, Critical Care at the same medical center, with a permanent staff position in a 30-bed ICU. Staffed various locum tenens positions in Critical Care and Anesthesia in the UK and South Africa. Served as a Remote Site Physician, responsible for the medical care of expatriate employees in: oil exploration in the Nigerian Delta; a subsea survey offshore from Ivory Coast; construction of an Ilmenite mine in Madagascar; and supporting an oil rig tow from the North Sea to the Canary Islands. For AeroCare, performed aeromedical evacuation and stabilization of patients from remote and inhospitable locations across Southern Africa.
