My role at Caterpillar European Research and Development center involved performing Performance and Emissions testing along with Durability testing on high powered turbocharged off highway diesel engines. During my time at CAT I also spent some time in the field test department, this involved putting our engines into an application and testing the capabilities in real life scenarios. I started my apprenticeship at Perkins Engines straight after I finished my Engineering Diploma at 6th form. The apprenticeship is based around providing maintenance support for the heavily automated engine assembly line. Upon completion of the apprenticeship I was selected to work on the same site but for Caterpillar Research and Development Center Europe. (Caterpillar owns Perkins Engines). This was great due to my main interests laying heavily within the Engine Research and Development sector. Show less
