Emily English
Kim is a formidable leader. She was a unanimous choice to co-chair USGBC’s Greenbuild Host Committee in 2015 because she is recognized as visionary, yet also practical and grounded. She has incredible people and project management prowess. As co-chair, Kim helped plot the effort’s overall direction and supervised the work of 7 subcommittees, made up of well over 100 volunteers. Motivating volunteers is a tough job, and one reason that Kim is so successful at it is because people genuinely like her, connect with her and want to deliver for her. In this case, the results were the most successful Greenbuild to date in terms of revenue and visibility for the local Chapter. When we faced challenges throughout the year-long effort, Kim handled them fairly and strategically. She personifies cool, calm and collected. We were incredibly lucky that she said yes to this volunteer position. Without a doubt, it was a bigger commitment than advertised, and Kim worked tirelessly to see it through. She left her mark and now, a few years later, is universally loved by the leadership at USGBC and regarded as a friend and mentor by many of us who worked alongside her. I sincerely look forward to future collaborations with Kim.
