  Developed a sustainability tool for electric motors in vehicles used by designers in early concept development to calculate environmental impacts and costs of losing natural capital using the EPS methodology, based on life-cycle thinking. Assessed the complexity necessary to make sustainability decisions, allowing those with limited sustainability knowledge to use the tool. I also investigated what circular strategies were available to limit the environmental impacts and costs of losing natural capital. Ultimately, it contributed to a more sustainable automotive industry as the tool proved to be easy to use and showed accurate results, leading to similar conclusions as recent LCA studies. The thesis was within the areas of resource efficiency, stakeholder management, measuring sustainability, circular economy, and life-cycle thinking, the tool was created in Microsoft Excel.
