The National Speed and Strength Academy (NSSA) is a sports performance center in Irwin, Pennsylvania. NSSA consists of training programs that are scientifically designed to give athletes who want to play at the next level the opportunity to gain a competitive edge through private and semi-private (6 athletes or less) year round sports performance training. I have been trained to put athletes through sport specific workouts to enhance their overall performance. As a sports performance trainer, I make sure that athletes are using the correct form and doing the drills properly for the best results. • Administer training for all types of athletes ranging from 8-20 years old. • Provide a wide variety of training modalities including dynamic warm up, running technique education, dot drills, VERTIMAX, plyometrics, speed ladder, viper cords, reaction training and band resistance training and much more. • Focus on a number of dynamic movements such as straight line speed, change of direction, lateral movements, explosiveness, jumping, acceleration and deceleration. • Athletes are directed through individual sport specific weight training programs including sport specific exercises. • Heavy concentration on core strength, balance, and stability exercises with the goal being injury prevention methods of the lower and upper extremities. I am currently being trained to advocate against tobacco use and facilitate discussions on how we can reach Rutgers students and faculty effectively through social media.
