Going into the last year of my Bachelor’s Degree, I knew that it was going to be the most important year. I also knew that I needed to continue to do well in order to succeed in the upcoming job hunt. When I saw the Software Development opening at QHR, it was like a dream come true: QHR is not only one of BC’s top employers but also operates in the Healthcare Industry /and/ the office was located in Kelowna! I knew right away that this is the company where I wanted my career to begin. Reading the offer letter, it was honestly one of the happiest moments of my life. I recall it was about a week between my final exam and my start date with QHR. I was super excited! I’ve met quite a few people at QHR that I knew from college, so settling in was easy. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. QHR is one of BC’s top employers for a reason, and it was obvious from the get-go. My employment at QHR has only gotten better over time. As a Software Developer, amongst others, my main responsibilities were:1. Maintenance and Development of new features for Canada’s Leading EMR System, Accuro® using Java, backed by MS SQL Database2. Full stack development in preparation for the future including AngularJS, Rest API, Java API, Data Model Objects as well as the Data Access Objects3. Customer support for reported issues ranging from code changes due to software defects, SQL scripts to alter customer’s data per their request, performance and moreBeing a Software Developer, I realized that my passion was Leadership: seeing the bigger picture, helping my team members succeed, resolving problems before they escalate and more. There was never a moment where I said no to challenges and I’ve always faced them confidently with my head held high. After exceeding expectations for the first couple of years, I knew I was ready for another big challenge which is why I decided to apply to be a Lead Data Analyst.

I met some incredibly brilliant people while working at Interior Health as an eLearning Training Developer. I actually started my employment with Interior Health as a Summer Student in the Occupational Health & Safety Department. It was inspirational to see so many people dedicate their lives to helping others. Being an eLearning Training Developer allowed me to work with a variety of people in a lot of different departments over the summer. To succeed, I needed to closely collaborate with the Subject Matter Experts to understand their needs and I quickly learned that my work had to meet three specific requirements:1. The online course must meet regulatory requirements2. It must be interactive and user-friendly3. Of duration of no more than 30 minutesMotivated by the organizational spirit, I truly wanted to impress with my work and go beyond expectations. By the end of the summer, I completed my first three courses: W.H.M.I.S., T.D.G. (parts 1 and 2) and Slips, Trips and Falls. The OHS Department was so pleased with my final products, they decided to keep me as a Contractor. I continued to work on projects over the 2 years while studying at Okanagan College. During my time at Interior Health I was able to complete more than 20 different online courses supporting a variety of Programs such as Violence Prevention, Laser Safety, Respiratory Program including Fit Testing, and Working Alone, just to name a few.Skills and Responsibilities:- Development of online courses in compliance with WorkSafeBC Regulations for Healthcare workforce such as W.H.M.I.S., T.D.G., Laser Safety, Working Alone, Violence Prevention and others- Application and use of Adobe's Captivate, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro, to create visually attractive content that featured professionally edited video and audio, quizzes, smooth transitions and more- Maintenance of existing courses to ensure their compatibility with the eLearning Management System
