Bio
Louise Beaumont
I am a strong believer and advocate for the three branches the Petit Family Foundation espouses (education, chronic disease support, and domestic violence advocacy). Dr. Petit is a wonderful example and role model for the Foundation, and it is my honor to serve as a volunteer.
Lisa Gerrol
As Chairman of the Hayley's Hope and Michaela's Miracle MS Memorial Fund at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Connecticut Chapter, Dr Petit is dedicated to helping improve the lives of families affected by multiple sclerosis. Through donors and volunteers who support the fund and Dr. Petit's continued efforts in raising awareness, fundraising, and engaging volunteers on behalf of the fund, we are able to provide vital family and caregiver programs for people affected by MS and fund college scholarships for students with multiple sclerosis or a parent affected by multiple sclerosis.

HAYLEY's HOPE & MICHAELA's MIRACLE MEMORIAL FUND

Chairman
-
Jul 2007 - Mar 2022
In July 2007, after the tragic loss of Jennifer, Hayley and Michaela, the Petit family established the Hayley’s Hope & Michaela’s Miracle MS Memorial Fund. The Petit women, who were beloved members of the Connecticut Chapter family, had been instrumental in helping to raise awareness and funds in the fight against multiple sclerosis. They were among our strongest fundraisers and most tireless volunteers. Hayley captained the Walk MS Team Hayley’s Hope and had been named a top fundraiser multiple years. Hayley had planned to attend Dartmouth College in the fall of 2007, and, consequently, Michaela was already preparing to step into her big sister's shoes to head up her own walk team, Michaela's Miracle. This locally-restricted memorial endowment fund continues their work, providing for the more than 6,000 Connecticut residents and their families living with MS. The memorial fund also provides for family educational programs and other programs for those with MS. In 2020-21 it moved to the Petit Family Foundation for oversight. The Hayley’s Hope & Michaela’s Miracle MS Memorial Fund receives contributions from individual donors, walk MS and bike MS teams & those in communities across Connecticut organizing events to raise money specifically for the fund – people eager keep the memory of Jennifer, Hayley and Michaela alive and equally fervent to continue their work to create a world free of MS. The Petit family and the Connecticut Chapter thank the many communities state-wide for the overwhelming support and the gracious contributions made to the fund to keep the work of Jennifer, Hayley and Michaela alive. Make your donation to the Hayley’s Hope and Michaela’s Miracle MS Memorial Fund online using our secure Web site, or please contact us at 860.913.2550 to make a donation by phone. http://www.nationalmssociety.org/chapters/CTN/donate/hayleys-hope-and-michaelas-miracle-ms-memorial-fund/index.aspx Return to the Donate Home Page. http://stonehealthideacare.com/ At Stone Health Innovations, we partner with providers in their goal to engage in true patient-centered care. We introduce and encourage fresh thinking regarding patient care and assist providers in their daily operations as they transition from fee-for-service to value-based reimbursement models. We work as a partner to our providers, helping them to deliver what they need: scalable, profitable and effective care management and population health strategies paired with cutting-edge information technologies. In all that we do, we strive to place the health of patients first while never losing sight of the needs of the providers who give that care. Together, we can improve outcomes, drive new revenue to quality providers, reduce the overall cost of care and improve the health and wellbeing of the populations we serve. Show less

Medical Director Joslin Diabetes Center/Private Practice Plainville
-
Jul 1997 - Jul 2007
I was the Medical Director of the Joslin Diabetes Center at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, leading an excellent team of 5 other endocrinologists, two registered dietitian CDEs and 4 RN CDEs as well as an associated team of exercise physiologist/cardiac rehabilitation specialists, an excellent Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Podiatric Surgeon, and a group of Renal consultants. In addition we had an active Clinical research unit that ran many Phase II and II trials for therapies of Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes as well as trials for Diabetic Neuropathy. Concurrently I ran a "private practice" in Plainville that specialized in endocrinology-diabetes as well as some primary care for complex endocrine patients. I taught medical residents and Endocrinology Fellows there and was ably assisted by a PA, Doreen Rackliffe and later by an APRN, Katy Tierney and then was joined by Dr. Michael Radin. Show less

I studied under Drs. Gene Barrett, Bob Sherwin and Bill Tamborlane among others. My basic research was using in vivo NMR spectroscopy to study glycogen flux in heart and muscle. I worked on the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial team studying the effects of tight control on the development of complications in patients with Type 1 Diabetes aged 13-39 years old at the start of the trial. I also did my first clinical drug trial studying the anti-diabetes agent Acarbose. I studied under Drs. Gene Barrett, Bob Sherwin and Bill Tamborlane among others.
