I had the opportunity to work with Rizvi while I was assisting him as a Teach For India Volunteer. Rizvi is truly passionate and committed to create a positive impact in the Indian Education Space. Given the limited resources he had, his urge to provide the best facilities to students really impressed me. He exhibits great multitasking, people management and communication skills. Wish him all the best!

I have had the pleasure of working with Rizvi Aquil Abbas for two years during his affiliation with Teach for India as a fellow and subsequently an Assistant leader of school (ASL) During this time, Rizvi displayed the qualities of a capacious individual. As a fellow, rizvi ensured that he was the educator his students needed. As an ASL, he built effective and long-term structures for the school’s development. I can vouch for three of Rizvi’s best competencies that I saw while working with him. Planning : Rizvi was placed in a low income private school situated in an area with negative Human Development Index [HDI] . His class of 75 students is filled with vibrant and energetic individuals who due to societal conditions have been not able to perform with their full potential in academics and non-academics. In spite of this context he showed resilience and grit simply by choosing to not give up on these students. Rizvi always made sure to bring in resources like differentiated worksheets, videos, reading materials to help students reach their goal. He managed to gather and train a group of 12 volunteers for his students. Rizvi’s strong planning cycle of setting goals, analysing data, strategic planning and prioritising worked immensely in his students favour. Problem solving: One of Rizvi’s biggest strengths has been his ability to find innovative solutions to complex problems. As an ASL of the school, he had multiple challenges to tackle on a daily basis. From lack of teachers and their training to building new classrooms for students to adjust in, Rizvi was able to find long-term solutions to most problems the school presented. As he leaves the school now, he has successfully created a culture of excellence amongst school teachers, structures and plan for the upcoming academic year and procedures for fees collection etc. Teamwork: Rizvi also happened to work with a big and diverse team of fellows, teachers and school Management. Having to balance opposing needs is in itself a challenge but Rizvi strived to take initiatives to bring people together to build culture and solve problems. Rizvi also constantly took additional responsibilities of creating spaces to listen to teachers concerns and review their plans. Rizvi is excellent at considering others perspective and he has the spirit of emotional courage where he doesn’t hesitate to put forward his opinion. Rizvi’s dedication and commitment hasn’t been questionable during the time I’ve known him and that makes me sure of the fact that he will thrive in whichever institute he works at. His character has been morally strong and his students and teachers have had a lot to learn from him over the course of his fellowship and ASL journey.
