Rahul is a deep thinker and an agile programmer who was able to take a fairly complex concept and rapidly bring it to a working stage in a matter of a few weeks. His understanding and problem solving ability of spatial optimisation problems is fantastic and his articulation of the same even better! Truly enjoyed working together!

      - Designed an MILP space planner that takes into account departments (not being split), shift-timings, affinities, in addition to accommodating pinning departments to a location. It also uses a dynamic clustering algorithm that takes into account actual proximity of seats while assigning seats to teams. The objective function is a combination of maximizing affinity benefit while minimizing cost of splitting departments and maximizing dual utilization of seats for non-overlapping shifts. Formulation was coded in open source solver PuLP. - Envisioned, designed and coded a meeting room scenario planner, where the administrator can take a floor, suggest alteration(s) to the meeting room layout and see how the new layouts perform against the original one on the basis of business-relevant KPIs. It takes in historical data from the business' meeting room usage trends, and simulates how well these different scenarios will perform by using empirical data. The users can also configure the time horizon for the historical data used, a surge factor (which can be used to forecast future demand changes e.g. 20% increase in demand), finally they can also select an accuracy factor which allows them to choose how many replications of the simulation must be conducted. This simulation was coded in python using random, scipy and numpy libraries.- Coded and designed process of taking GeoJSON of an AutoCAD file to automatically capture obstacle information and provide a wayfinding service from point A to B. This was then also extended to have a searchable wayfinding where it will take user from current position to a specific seat/room that was searched for. Used Neo4j to store information and implement graph algorithms. Show less

      - Coded a space planning tool and python server that took in employee data and site data in an excel sheet and assigned seats to minimize splits of departments, keep related departments close to one another and return the output as an updated excel sheet - Programmed a wayfinding application that returned the shortest path from source to destination by just taking an AutoCAD file as input. Optimized the code to reduce the number of vertices by ~16-18% and number of edges by ~20-24%- Created backend for converting a clickable vector map into a clickable rasterized map Show less
