Led and recruited 60+ residents for sustainability, environmental and social justice programming for the GreenHouse Learning Community of UW-Madison. This sustainability-themed residential learning community is housed in one of UW's Lakeshore LEED Gold Certified residence halls and served 45-90 students each year. During my three years as intern, I collaborated with UW's College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, College of Community and Environmental Sociology and the Housing faculty to organize residential life and events tailored to the interest of GreenHousers. I created a variety of on- and off-site events to engage with our residents and community at large. Including, but not limited to: movie and discussion events, small and large group conversations, guest dinners and discussions, community cooking events, local volunteering at community centers, farms and food banks. I orchestrated recycling and composting campus events and fostered a working and growing environment of gardening and soil conservation in our own GreenHouse. I organized and directed eight volunteer service-learning projects: including an alternative spring break to New Orleans for Katrina environmental relief/restoration efforts. Show less
