  As a conservation assistant I'm responsible for supervising and carrying out different field projects, data entry and analysis. My tasks include: - Territory mapping, mist netting, bird ringing and blood sampling of the Seychelles Magpie-Robin, Seychelles White-eye and Seychelles Warbler - Counting waders on a fixed transect and recording all vagrants. These are well documented and are sent to the Seychelles Bird Records Committee - Point count surveys for estimating population size of different species of landbirds - Nest monitoring of the White-tailed tropicbird and the Fairy/ White tern - Monitoring of Caecilians by counting them on a fixed transect and swabbing them to test for chytridiomicosis - Surveying, tagging and nest relocation of the critically endangered Hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricata) - Invasive species management and habitat restoration - Guiding guests on nature walks Show less

  Assisting with a behavioural study on the endangered Aye-aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis) where we followed several radio collared animals during the night. This research is conducted in co-operation with the local community of Kianjavato. I helped out the local people with the behavioural monitoring, data collection and entry and ensured that the project stayed on the right track. Other projects I worked on were teaching the people in the Aye-aye research team to learn English and raising awareness in the local village by setting up educational activities. Show less
