Scholarship is the cornerstone of City Academy’s mission. Scholarship doesn’t make it easy to attend City Academy, but it does make it possible; our donors make the difference. City Academy’s rigorous program is made affordable for families through a funding model that is unique. All families pay tuition; however, tuition income generates 13 percent of the school’s annual budget. As a result, City Academy must fund up to 87 percent of its annual operating costs, over $5 million annually, through community support from individuals, corporations, foundations and investment income from our endowment fund.As a member of the executive team, I am responsible for developing and leading our Development and Communications team of 6 mission driven staff members. I oversee the administration of all development areas to generate revenue and increase contributions to successfully reach fundraising goals. This includes creating and implementing strategies for all areas including major gift solicitations, corporate and foundation grants, planned giving, stewardship, gift processing, event management, marketing, social media, policies, and engagement of board members and volunteers. While at City Academy, our team has increased annual fund giving by 65 percent, resulting to over $2.35 million annually. Our Development & Communications team recently completed a $22 million comprehensive campaign that followed the completion of a $10 million endowment initiative for increased scholarships.

Successfully revamped structure of board meetings to fully engage and deepen members’ commitment and increased donations.Implemented young alumni giving initiative to increase support of recent graduates and long-term generosity.Developed relationship with global corporations to recruit 4-5 CEO speakers annually for donor cultivation events.
