ngena (intentionally spelt all-lowercase) is a growing global startup currently in funding series C+. In this dynamic environment, I lead the Product Management department. Collaborating with C-leads, key customers, UX team and architects, we have created a ground-breaking Managed Services platform to deliver a portfolio of managed connectivity services based upon multiple domains (SD-WAN, SD-LAN, SASE, on-prem securty, cloud networking), multiple technologies (Cisco, Fortinet, Versa, Zscaler, AWS, Google Cloud, MS Azure, OpenStack, etc), and multiple global partnerships, to globally deliver fully automated services in a pure Pay As You Grow fashion. Responsibilities include idea evaluation and business case definition, build | buy | partner | co-create, phasing and roadmapping, product/service UX design, market introduction, adoption monitoring and service evoution. Additionally, I own product-related relationship with key customers and partners, as well as ngena's C-levels and investors. I am part of M&A activities of ngena, both for acquisitions and exit options. For acquisitions, I am responsible for product evaluation and portfolio integration strategy. In 2016 I was selected to be part of the team initiating a new business unit within Cisco CPSG, dedicated to bring to light a new company, named ngena, a joint venture from Cisco and Deutsche Telekom.As part of this initial team, I've covered many roles. Initially I worked Business Case definition used within Cisco to confirm the investment, which ended up in a totall allocation of about 100M$.Thereafter I took responsibility for execution, entering the role of Head of Program Management for the solution, coordinating across a dozen of different product lines within Cisco, a solution team specific for ngena of about 90 engineers, and of course ngena itself.In 2018 I took over the responsibility of Produt Management: my team worked with ngena product management to determine the solution evolution, and with the product management teams of the relevant Cisco product lines to influence their roadmaps accordingly.During this period I worked remotely from Italy with regular travelling to California and Germany.Once the ngena company was set up, I was given the chance to join them as Head of Products. After a career in Engineering, I wanted to move to a more global and cross-disciplinary career. I took the chance of an opening in Program Management: the team was based in California but willing to hire remotely. I re-started my career as an individual contributor, initially managing a single project based in Europe and India. In two years I became responsible for all the non-USA based CVG projects (about 10 product lines, 30 releases per year, 100 engineers involved), and in 2018 I became the global head of PMO for CVG, resonsible for about 30 product lines, 90 releases per year, 500 engineers involved. In this role I directly led a global team of 30 Program Managers, responsible for planning, execution, dependency management, issues escalation and resolution, executive reporting and escalation, and process compliance.I was also part of the Cisco corporate team defining the Cisco Agile Methodology, a set of processes and best practices to introduce Agile in the Cisco Product Development practice, involving a total of about 14.000 professionals spanning across all phases of a product lifecycle.
