I had the pleasure of hiring Kat into my quality engineering organization while we worked together at Salesforce.org. Kat is a user-centered quality engineer with a focus on risk-based testing and providing efficiency through thoughtful automation. When Kat started at salesforce, she had not done software testing in a formal capacity, but had done the job for several years as part of her interaction with Salesforce non-profit products. Kat quickly applied her prior knowledge to the formal aspects of software testing, becoming a critical team member on the Volunteers product. As more automation support was required, Kat eagerly participated in learning Python, Selenium, and Robot Framework to ensure that automation was applied appropriately to the product. I have rarely seen someone acclimate to change so quickly, and approach new technical challenges with such enthusiasm. In addition to her quality engineering skills, Kat brings a passion for her teammates and organization to her role, providing safe and equitable spaces for all colleagues. She participated in team learning sessions, as well as organizing team volunteering activities on a regular basis, including leading team trainings and discussions around issues of diversity, inclusion, and equity. I highly recommend Kat for any role to which she applies. She is displays deep concern for her teammates and an outstanding ability to learn any skill to which she applies her energy.

Kat is fantastic at what she does. Not only is our product continually praised for lack of bugs , in large part due to her work, but she is also always asking the "how can we do this better" questions. She always is looking for efficiencies at every corner (automate!) and enthusiastically tries new things. She is a true team player who brings both technical skills and mature perspective to the table.

Lead QA Engineer

As the first QA on staff, created and implemented overall quality strategy for native mobile apps on both iOS and Android. Shifted testing left from an ad-hoc release process with daily smoke testing in production and relying on beta testers to identify bugs, to a consistent release process with test planning and execution for new features, pre-release regression testing, and documentation to define and create alignment around bug severity levels. • Collaborated with engineering manager and developers to establish and guide a consistent weekly release process. During pre-release testing, raised and filed bugs and provided input for product owners on risk. • Built and maintained API test automation suite using Postman. • Conducted functional, exploratory, end-to-end, accessibility, and regression testing. Led risk assessment process for existing features with input from lead developers and product owners, and used that to create a regression test suite and prioritize test cases. To scale testing for large feature releases, created thorough test plans and organized company-wide bug bashes. • Facilitated bi-weekly bug triage meeting with developers, engineering manager, product owners, and CX staff to prioritize both known bugs in backlog and emergent issues.
