    • Project Support / Trainee Project Manager
      • Jul 2008 - Jun 2013

As Project Support / Trainee Project Manager I was responsible for day-to-day monitoring of ongoing projects, be they new projects or Change Requests to previously completed and delivered solutions, reporting to the Lead Project Manager regarding updates, enquiries, changes, etc. Duties included complete management of smaller projects and assisting on the others run by the Lead, including documentation at all stages and levels, and customer/client liaison and communications including face-to-face site visits. As EDG is a small company the Projects Department was responsible for the full solution; specifying, obtaining and supplying to the customer any and all necessary Hardware, Software, Accessories and supplies. Their main product was a mobile Proof Of Delivery system, although this could be adapted to many other purposes and customised per customer, utilising Live GPRS Mobile communications to report in real-time back to the Server - be it hosted or customer-based. I was responsible for researching and advising on the choice of equipment, along with installation and set-up of all associated hardware and software, from Servers to HandHeld Computers, from the basic OS to the specific components required for each unique solution. This included time spent on-site installing hardware and software, testing components and full end-to-end testing, before training the end users on the system functions and features. My department was also responsible for testing of new/updated software - I supervised and trained an apprentice, later graduated to employee, in all aspects of testing. The main product consisted of a GUI with a Database behind it; I was second-line support for the whole system, responsible for diagnosing any issues the first line support team could not handle, before either applying the fix or referring further up the chain to third-line support or direct to the developers. I progressed from Computer Laptop Repair Engineer (just fit parts), to Diagnoser (diagnose the failure and order parts for others to fit) in just 3 months. After a further 6 months I started up the Quality Control Section as Project Leader, and then ran it with 4 staff as Team Leader.
