  Served as an aide to then-U.S. Senator John Ashcroft. In a five year period, was based in Kansas City, Missouri, then Washington, D.C., then Springfield, Missouri. Managed Missouri press and media relations from Washington, D.C. office and also from Missouri offices. Responsible for crafting and positioning the Senator and his message for optimal positive exposure in earned media. As District Office Director for southwest Missouri, was responsible for grassroots development, constituent services, and public events and appearances throughout southwest Missouri. Served as surrogate for the Senator at public events and listening posts.
