New mom of a 3 month old beautiful baby boy, Maya joins the Product Analytics team as Analyst-III. She is an accomplished IT professional with over six years of experience in Information technology and Data. She joined the Wikimedia Foundation back in July 2019 as a contractor for the Better Use of Data program to work with Data Analysts and solve their challenges around data quality. In the role of Data Quality Analyst she was successfully able to put in place data quality processes by defining data quality goals, recommending best practices and collaborating extensively with data analysts, product (Readers Web, Editing, Android, iOS) and engineering teams. Maya has also supported an initiative led by the Communications team highlighting the impact of Wikipedia during the Covid-19 pandemic providing stats of articles, edits and editors that contributed directly towards Wikipedia articles with vital information about the pandemic. She has worked closely with the Readers Web and Editing teams (as a backfill for a team member who was out on parental leave) to create instrumentation plans and measure the effectiveness of new features being added as a part of Desktop Refresh and Talk Pages - Replying using data. She played a key role in the Content Data Accessibility project; meeting with product stakeholders and gathering requirements for designing the content dataset.
