As a mining engineer consultant with experience in gold, silver, and copper mines, I have had the pleasure of working on both greenfield projects and active mine operations across the globe. My specialties include drill and blast design, pit optimization using Lerch-Grossman software, long & short-range mine planning, OPEX cost model analysis, and PEA, PFS, FS level reporting. My work with mining companies in the U.S., Canada, South America, Africa, and parts of Europe has allowed me to gain valuable experience in various mining environments and cultures. I am always looking for new and exciting opportunities to utilize my skills and knowledge to help mining companies achieve their goals. Show less

Responsible for General Plant departments (Minerals and Metals) on engagement and expectations to meet budget, strategically find opportunities to add value, reduce cost and meet business need promises with key stakeholders. Also engaged with management on varying platforms to showcase improvements, evaluate budgets, and determine YTD business requirements to successfully meet Rio Tinto global expectations. To help management determine their forecast for the year and build out into their 2023 budget, was also responsible for creatingnew interactive templates that provide YTD actuals for 2022. Led weekly drumbeat meetings to go over General Plant cost variances to Managing Director, supporting GM’s and other financial business partners within Rio Tinto Copper & Diamond asset group. In addition, supported managers with month end check-ins for invoices, purchase orders, accruals, and other site-specific tasks for each General Plant department to help determine overall cash-flow within Rio Tinto Kennecott.Skills: Communication - KPI Driven - Asset Management - Problem Solver - OPEX cost analysis Show less

    • Short Range Mine Planning - Mining Engineer
      • Jun 2021 - Jun 2022

Supported mine operation teams with daily/weekly drill and shovel plans. Developed and communicated short-range plans to meet mid-range KPI’s and business forecast promises. Worked together with various disciplines to help with projects to integrate into the weekly schedule for operations. Delivered mine optimization strategies and collaborated internally and externally among different disciplines to build 2W Shovel Plans and Weekly drill plans to effectively drive TMM and copper grades. Worked with D&B Engineers to plan efficiently for blast scheduling to reduce D&B delay for shovels. Assisted with long-term stockpile strategy to meet the complexity of sequencing in the mine with contingency on geotechnical parameters.Skills: Mine Scheduling – Atlas Expert (MinePlan Software) – Effective Communication skills – KPI Driven – Safety First Culture – Collaborative Problem Solving Show less

Production Control Dispatcher for Kennecott – Spent time working with their dispatch system at the mine as well as gained experience of how supervisors handle their daily task, with shadowing shovel, drill, and road supervisors. Continued to build my understanding of Short-Range Planning daily plans submitted to operation and execute to their shovel KPI’s. Skills: Dispatch and monitoring – Safety First Culture – Effective communication to operations

      • Worked on developing a monthly reconciliation of the haul truck speed model by constructing a monthly haulage network based on proportional good vs. bad weather days to validate if actual is following to plan. Showed the total, loaded, empty cycle times comparison to distance to show variance between them and if the MS Haulage is faster or slower than actual • Recommended an update to the current speed model by comparing total cycle times to correlate with distance. Calculated the impact to operating hours with the new speed restrictions to the current model vs. the base case model • Assisted the Sr. D&B Engineer by layout of blast patterns using MineSight • Developed a monthly report for Time Usage Model to further analyze actual vs. plan. Delay and Standby reconciliation to track KPI’s such as: Availability, Utilization of Availability, Utilization, and Effective Utilization. Show less

Explosives Engineering Intern and Assistant Technical Sales representative for Patriot Powder LLC. Provided sales support for the AXXIS™ electronic detonator system in Western US. Tasked completed during my internship: -Built retail pricing model for Western US using North American explosive manufacturers products. -Formulated a blasting gasbag savings calculator. -Produced State of Wyoming Blaster Training 24-hour course -Developed Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah business plans Knowledge gained from my internship: -The supply chain process of explosives in the Western US -The knowledge and experience of the type of explosives used in coal, gold, and copper. -Built a deeper understanding of what tasked are completed by an Explosives Engineer and what a mine manager needs to know about their mine, blasting holes, and explosive products. Worked on a team in Instrument and Payload Branch as their Data Analysis Engineer. Was an evaluator for training programs at Goddard Space Flight Center. Created surveys and models to evaluate data collected from training programs to generate Heat Maps in Excel and MATLAB. In this incredible experience at Goddard Space Flight Center, I realized how many small details need to be included for any project to be completed. While many might be stressed on their projects or research you have to find a medium in which works best not only for yourself but for others working with you as well. It is a team effort from beginning to end and the way to get the best out of everyone is constant communication reinforced with feedback. Show less

Explosives, Blasting Internship with BME at Kansanshi Open Pit Copper Mine in Zambia. Learned and implemented the AXXIS™ Blasting Box system using electronic delay detonators by hands on experience in the main pit. Designed blasting patterns using BME's software package BlastMap™ III that showed the energy distribution and direction of blasted rock. While in main pit I was tasked with using the AXXIS™ Leakage/Functionality Tester to identify leakages or short-circuits in the system before a blast and repaired any wires found on the block. As well as, assigned time sequences using AXXIS™ Logger into the AXXIS™ GII detonators. With the blaster foreman I conducted pre-blast checks to identify any errors or extras in our EDD system to help problem solve where the possible issue was on the block. Towards the end of my internship I prepared a final presentation for BME product managers. Knowledge gained during my internship: - The morning meetings attended for safety, planning session for the day with mine managers of First Quantum Minerals has taught me valuable lessons in what it takes to operate a mine safely and efficiently. - Hands on experience with electronic blasting system, electronic delay detonators, and software has helped further my knowledge of explosive industry within mining. - I know how to plan a blast with the drilling parameters and know the cost analysis of how to report how much explosives were used for each shot. - Made short term blast plans and implemented them on the bench with the blasters Show less
