  Ignite Architects was founded 1987. Jeremy Whelan joined the company as a senior architect that same year. and became a shareholder in the business. Five years later he took over as Managing Director. In the ensuing 30 years Jeremy has led the growth of Ignite Architects which has grown from a small, predominantly retail-focused, Auckland-based company to a strong all-round architectural practice operating New Zealand wide, as well as in Australia and China and 140 staff supporting the business. Jeremy has extensive experience in designing major retail centres throughout Australasia, Asia and the United Arab Emirates. In addition his strong planning skillsets in hotel, leisure and tourism projects are fundamental in any of todays mixed use projects. Jeremy’s expertise also covers master planning of major mixed use commercial, industrial and urban projects. Through the architectural medium, Jeremy has developed significant skills in urban design and master planning.
