It's rare to have the opportunity to work with someone as knowledgeable, talented and professional as Brittany. After joining Marriott International's BMSC Americas Planning + Services team, I had the pleasure of working with Brittany and her team on several key integration and sales initiatives. Apart from being a great leader, Brittany often keeps her communications skills sharp by assisting directly when her team is faced with multiple critical tight timelines. I was comforted by the kindness she showed when assisting me directly with a recent project. Any business would be lucky to have Brittany as a key leader in their organization. This recommendation reflects my views alone and are not necessarily the views of Marriott or any of its brands.

Brittany is a trusted leader who manages many competing demands with aplomb – something I’ve always admired about her. She carries the respect of her teams and is able to motivate them to deliver impactful results for industry-leading organizations (read: high expectations) because she genuinely cares about them, is committed to their development and success, and rolls up her sleeves to lead by example. I sought Brittany out when I needed mentorship, though we hadn’t worked together in several years, because I value her approach as a leader, her thoughtful insights, and her keen ability to carry her skills across industries.

As Vice President, Communications & Change Management at Marriott, I led communications, change management and events for the Americas throughout our integration with Starwood, the largest hotel merger ever and during period of greatest change in Marriott’s 90-year history. I managed communications, change management, events, and recognition for Marriott’s Americas’ portfolio; 5300+ hotels in 40 countries and 82 percent of the Company’s annual global revenue. Oversaw Americas communications and change management for the complex, global Starwood integration. And I developed strategy, managed complex communications for critical revenue-driving initiatives including online travel agency negotiations, 48-hour cancellation policy, urban destination fees, and intermediary commissions. Served as Hilton's global leader for consumer PR and owner communications. I managed issues to protect and promote Hilton's image and reputation; and created communications that connected Hilton’s master-brand with its portfolio of 14 brands to increase awareness and drive affinity. I established a digital owner and franchisee communications channel driving engagement in Hilton’s most critical issues each week. I helped rebrand Hilton’s 60-million-member loyalty program, Hilton Honors; and garnered coverage in The Economist, USA Today, Travel + Leisure and Business Insider which resulted in nearly 1.2 billion media impressions and 90+ placements. I developed a thought leadership program to spotlight Hilton innovations and its executives, and placed Geraldine Calpin, Chief Marketing Officer, on AdWeek’s ranking of top tech Savvy CMOs, CNN’s 11 people changing the way we travel, in AFAR magazine as a 2015 Travel Vanguard, and Advertising Age’s 2016 Women to Watch list. As an SVP in FleishmanHillard’s corporate and consumer practices, I developed creative strategies and counseled clients on marketing, messaging, earned media, social media, and media training. I managed dozens of client relationships; identified emerging trends in news coverage; and, secured media coverage for clients around those trends. I led programs to educate consumers on issues such as online safety, in support of the Federal Trade Commission, and oversaw Hispanic outreach. For the FTC, I led the design, development, and launch of a comprehensive website that helps businesses comply with consumer protection law. Select other clients included: Library of Congress; National Parks Service; NPR; Wireless Power Consortium; Booz Allen Hamilton; Motorola; CTIA; Convergys; Institute of Medicine; and Coty. Show less

I managed communications for the market launch of Verizon Business, the $20 billion global division formed out of the merger of Verizon and MCI. I crafted messaging, media statements, and training. And I served as corporate spokesperson for MCI, a Fortune 100, on financial operations, quarterly earnings, corporate governance and ethics, global workforce, community relations, disaster relief efforts, and legal proceedings. I managed crisis communications and media relations for MCI’s financial restatement, emergence from the largest bankruptcy in history, relisting on the NASDAQ, and merger negotiations. Show less
