Alice Baillie-Lane
Elizabeth was an absolute pleasure to work with when she was interning with my team at Global. She is very diligent in applying herself to a task, she takes direction well and uses her initiative to get the task at hand done to an exceptional standard. Not only that, she is a ray of sunshine and brings an incredibly positive and bright outlook to her work. She would be an asset to any team which she chose to join and I only wish that she could have stayed with us for longer.

Freelance Copywriter
-
Jul 2019 - Jun 2022
I helped the business owner establish a brand tone and create copy for the website and online marketplaces. Officially launching in December 2019, The Telegraph quickly recognised The Roost as one of the top 15 cabin getaways in the UK. My role initially went from July 2019 – December 2019. As of March 2021, I resumed my position at The Roost as a copywriter for their new blog. - Producing copy for the business’ blog. I ensure copy reflects the brand personality, establishing stronger connections with new and existing customers whilst producing relevant content for search engines to index. This has created more opportunities for sharing on social media, driving engagement, and bringing more attention to the business. - Adapted briefings into written content that creatively captured the brand tone. Attention to detail was essential to establishing a polished image. Creating professional and quality content for the website helped the business quickly gain reputability, with the cabins achieving ninety-two per cent occupancy in its third month of opening. - Researched market competitors to understand their customer base and subsequently developed strategies that would enable the business to gain a strong foothold and stand out. This contributed to the business’ reputability and subsequent gain of publicity and growing customer base. Show less

Work Experience
-
Oct 2019 - Oct 2019
A work experience opportunity for Global, one of the world’s leading media & entertainment groups. I worked for Global’s in-house charity team (Global’s Make Some Noise) during the lead-up to their flagship annual events. This included their public on-air radio appeal, Make Some Noise Day, and their exclusive gala event, Make Some Noise Night. - As part of Make Some Noise Day, I helped to manage the charity’s social media. Social media engagement played a vital role in encouraging donations and gaining publicity for the appeal. I capitalised on this by writing emotive and engaging posts to update on appeal achievements and attract further donations, contributing to the total of £4.1 million raised. Given the public nature of the appeal, attention to detail was essential to maintain professionalism and achieve fundraising success. - Produced copy for prizes to be sold in the charity’s silent auction on Make Some Noise Night. I adapted information from prize donor forms into concise and enticing copy whilst resonating with the charity’s brand voice and tone. Again, attention to detail was paramount given the nature of the event and the presence of important benefactors. The silent auction made a significant contribution to the total £850 thousand-pounds raised on Make Some Noise Night. - Took fundraisers contact data from Excel spreadsheets and entered this into the company’s CRM system. I organised the information to ensure that the corresponding mailing of fundraising materials was done with maximum efficiency and in line with the charity’s strict GDPR policy. This played an important role in promoting the charity and thus maximising fundraising opportunities. - Carried out my formal tasks whilst simultaneously managing the preparation and delivery of community fundraising materials, handling telephone and email enquiries, and helping all sectors of the team during this busy period.
