Lisa exhibits great enthusiasm in everything she does. Coding and administrative topics are subjects that can be difficult to teach, but Lisa was able to accomplish this in unique ways. Her evaluations by students were always positive and she helped them see the connection between the real world and what was being taught.       Health Informatics is a field of information science concerned with the management of all aspects of health data and information through the application of computers and computer technology (AHIMA, 2018). A Health Informatics Specialist is not on the front lines of healthcare. Generally, you won’t find them roaming the halls of hospitals or interacting with patients; however, as technology becomes increasingly ubiquitous – health informatics specialists play a critical role in the medical care of all individuals (Healthcare Administation Degree Programs, 2020). These scientific specialists develop warehouses of clinical and non-clinical healthcare data to help providers produce effective and efficient quality care. While health informatics is perceived to be a “new” scientific field – it’s conceptual origins can be traced back to the early 1900’s. Public health systems utilized various methods of collecting (Mikhailov, Chernyl, & Gilyarevskii, 1967) and analyzing data to improve health and deliver health care services (American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), 2020). Health informatics is a diverse field of study which expands throughout various traditional and non-traditional healthcare settings to collect and analyze healthcare data through the use of technology.
