Chris is a constant learner with the ability to connect things together that others miss. He is focused on improving his teammates and has a high emotional intelligence. These abilities suit him well for many situations, but he shines when working with others and influencing the formation of big solutions.

Quincy Carolan

Working with Chris on a dedicated team with very strict and challenging timelines, he kept the team on task and worked hard to remove roadblocks which played an important role in the team's success on the effort.

I am an Economist within the Direct Investment Division (DID), Operations Systems and Analysis Branch (OSAB), of the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) within the Department of Commerce. In this role, I work on direct investment surveys with focuses on quarterly surveys BE605 (inward quarterly companion of the BE15/BE12 Surveys) & BE577 (companion to the BE11/BE10 surveys). In this role, I have learned about survey methodology, how data is filled out, edit, imputed, stored, and used. I've gained experience with the SPS+ and the system metadata. I've cross-training with economists on other surveys. I am also seeking to identify opportunities to utilize Microsoft Power BI to provide an additional way to manage and view our data. I've identified problems with existing SQL code, written new code, and tested changes. I've used my years of experience to show new ways work can be completed and tracked and built new templates to utilize. Businesses, individuals, countries, etc fill out surveys detailing their direct investment activities. This survey data is collected and stored by BEA. Queries of the relevant databases are made using structured query language (SQL). I use this system to support editors and other consumers of our data.

    • Scrum Master
      • Jul 2018 - Apr 2019

In this role, I was the Scrum Master leading the Risk and security Controls work associated with our usage of the Salesforce.Com Platform for our Enterprise Customer and Opportunity Relationship Management needs. In an evolving environment I must work 'within the grey' to drive work, remove impediments, and continuously deliver solutions.

    • Team Lead for Salesforce.Com Security Controls at State Farm
      • Jan 2016 - Jul 2018

I was the team lead for a group of analysts which support some of the risk mitigating controls governing the Salesforce.Com test and production environments that State Farm farm operates within. We create, update, or sunset controls as appropriate to keep risks mitigated while working in a multi-tenant cloud solution. I work with leadership to understand impacts of these controls to development within the agile framework and work to recommend new ways to operate. I also lead a strategy team comprised of security, risk, control, architecture, business, and administrator representatives which acts as a steering committee to ensure we keep our commitments to our policy holders and associates. I also act as a resource to other areas of the enterprise as one of our enterprise pioneers for mitigating risks associated with developing and testing within cloud environments and customer usage.

    • Scrum Master for development team integrating CRM Systems with Salesforce.Com using Safe Agile
      • Jan 2015 - Jan 2016

As State Farm moved toward agile development utilizing the Safe Agile framework I took on an opportunity to become one of the first Scrum Masters in our area. During this opportunity I was able to leverage previous experience in working with many roles across multiple teams to delivery incremental change at a faster pace. This allowed us to adapt quickly as we better understood customer needs and reacted. This reduced rework and increased the success rate of projects. I used this opportunity to continue learning new technologies and increase my industry knowledge to anticipate future potential changes. This effort is among the largest Customer Relationship Management implementations ever.

    • Technical Analyst - Technical Coordinator
      • Aug 2012 - Jan 2015

I performed integration analyst responsibilities working to integrate and/or replace many of State Farm's existing capabilities with those offered by SalesForce.Com as well as leverage its capabilities for new opportunities. This effort is among the largest ever Customer Relationship Management (CRM) integration projects and requires cross-department and area coordination between multiple companies. This includes reviewing requirements, system design, identifying gaps, project planning, code review, security and control reviews and planning, and other project management activities.

    • Problem Coordinator
      • Mar 2011 - Aug 2012

I was an area-level problem coordinator responsible for maturing Service Management practices within State Farm as we implemented ITIL best practices. We utilized HP Service Manager (previously HP Service Desk and SFQ before that). The role required building relationships and getting buy-in from influential analysts on the new direction we were headed. I also leveraged my years of systems experience to resolve production issues as they arose and to proactively make recommendations on how to minimize both the likelihood of future outages and the impact of any that may occur. I obtained several ITIL certifications to increase my effectiveness in this role.

    • Systems Analyst
      • Jan 2006 - Mar 2011

Early in my career within State Farm's systems department, I supported their Property and Casualty legacy code. I worked with business analysts to drive out requirements for new or modifications to existing functionality. I often made these programming changes myself or serviced the work of newer analysts making the changes. While in this role, I utilized Cobol, JCL, DB2 and additional technology. Other times I coordinated the work of my team for project or service work, mentored new employees, and planned new ways to support our services including working with leadership as a guiding coalition to explore alternative sourcing strategies.
