Determine if applicant is eligible to receive certified copies free on Armed Forces status. Subject application to JNET scrutiny; reject all unacceptable applications by returning to walk-in applicants or completing rejection letter when applicable; and cash register all acceptable applications with fees. Utilize the Division’s birth systems to search, retrieve, and/or issue birth certified copies. Utilize photocopiers & personal computer to issue death certified copies. Verify printed certified copies for accuracy and mail to applicant. Apply knowledge of guidelines that determine eligibility of applicants, analyze applications for completeness, signatures, valid photo identification/documentation requirement, type and quantity of certificates requested and proper remittance. Assists the applicant in the resolution of discrepancies and problems. For example, in lieu of proper photo identification, recommend documentation that is acceptable or alternate eligible requestor. Offer to applicants where they may obtain this acceptable documentation. Examines birth and death applications for discrepancies and provides verbal assistance on completion of forms to walk in customers. Responsible for accurate printing of certified copies of birth records. Screen incoming applications; check reason for request to determine which type of certified copy is to be issued, for example standard, long form, complete, etc. Use discretion and judgment in dispensing information which may be susceptible to misunderstanding or misuse.
