Communications Intern
-
Oct 2021 - May 2023
As a member of the communications team, I draft content to be posted on BSA's Twitter page as well as Victoria Espinel's Twitter page, the CEO of BSA. BSA | The Software Alliance is a leading advocate for the global software industry. I research and gather reports on AI, IoT, international and cross-border data, and digital transformation globally. I also craft content for a biweekly digital transformation network newsletter highlighting BSA's member companies. Lastly, on a weekly basis I use Google News to send a curated list of content regarding Section 230, Open Data, and privacy legislation. This list is sent to executives of the company including the CEO. Show less

Trusted Referee- Member Support Representative
-
Dec 2020 - Jul 2021
ID.me provides secure identity proofing, authentication, and group affiliation verification for government and businesses across sectors. As a trusted referee, my role was to assist users, in a timely and efficient manner, to verify their identities so they may qualify for state programs such as: pandemic and unemployment assistance, as well as veteran benefits. I had the opportunity to virtually connect with people across the United States seeking verification. Due to the rise in fraudulent activity nationwide, I took pride in carefully reviewing documents and personal information as to prohibit fraudulent users from bypassing the verification system. Content and Outreach Intern
-
May 2019 - Nov 2019
General Services Administration (GSA) is an agency with the mission to provide effective and efficient government to the American people. In my internship I was assigned to work with the Centers of Excellence, a team of experts from five focus areas that accelerate IT modernization and centralize best practices with government agencies. My responsibility was to provide assistance and support to the Director of Content and Outreach within the Centers of Excellence. I helped in curating a bi weekly internal newsletter to share updates and upcoming events with members of our team. Another key assignment including editing and structuring content, as it related to tweets and latest updates on the Coe.gsa.gov website. One of my favorite projects included the GSA Senior Media Advisor asking my office to create a presentation detailing social media management. I worked with my supervisor to prepare a slide deck on how we run our Twitter channel, tips and tricks, and upcoming plans for us, and then I was given the opportunity to give the presentation to 30 listeners strengthening my communication skills. Information Desk Attendant
-
Aug 2018 - Dec 2018
As an information desk attendant I served as not only an information resource for students and visitors to campus, but also a leader as I became a representative for my university to those who entered the Student Union. I would answer any questions people had about life on campus, provided my own experiences, and pointed visitors to people who could better suit their needs. My responsibilities also included: maintaining the Lost & Found log, safe deposit log, and bulletin board reservation log. I also provided phone coverage for incoming calls to the Information Desk and secretary's desk. In this role I built customer service and communication skills. Show less

Intern at the Public Affairs Office
-
Jun 2017 - Jul 2017
Within my first week on the job, I was invited to the West Africa Regional Conference in which more than 100 Yali Mandela Washington Fellows from West and Central Africa gathered in Accra, and that was only the beginning. During my internship I visited Cape Coast twice to attend conferences, drafted letters and speeches for the Public Affairs Officer, assisted in the logistics bringing Ghanians and Americans together, and more. As someone who loves meeting new people, I was grateful to have had the opportunity to work closely with an office that bridges the gap between people- to- people diplomacy. I was in attendance as local Ghanaians were speaking to each other on issues that mattered to them: public health, sustainable goals, tourism, etc.; and I helped in the logistics of foreign student exchange programs, and journalism grants. I assisted in the logistics of Ghanaian graduates applying to graduate school in the U.S, served as a liaison between Ghanaian citizens and American diplomats, designed flyers for a social media campaign on cyber security for the Facebook page, and participated on a panel discussing American culture to Ghanaian students.
