Master Thesis Project
-
Apr 2020 - Oct 2020
Carried out the Master thesis project titled: "Applicability of radiation modeling for direct comparison of simulations and experiment". The project consisted of developing a Python tool to estimate the electromagnetic emission from excited hydroxyl radicals present in a liquid rocket combustor non-premixed flame. A priori, a software architecture was proposed and implemented followed by the application of the tool to two distinct test cases and compared to the results from experiments conducted at DLR Lampoldshausen. The project led to the validation of the Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering at ISAE-SUPAERO.

Combustion Team Lead - Project Griffon at Supaero Space Section
-
Nov 2018 - Apr 2020
Member of Supaero Space Section - Project "Griffon". Its objectives are to design, produce and certify a hybrid rocket engine. Performed duties as Combustion team lead. These include: - Development of a python software tool to model the overall behavior of a hybrid rocket engine. - Performed data post-processing and analysis of Hycom's engine test-bench located at ONERA Fauga site. Concluded by inferring the proposed fuel (ABS) regression law for a posteriori design. Member of Supaero Space Section - Project "Griffon". Computational Engineer
-
Sep 2015 - May 2018
Worked for ExxonMobil URC (Upstream Research Company) as part of the Surveillance and Optimization group. The role of a computational engineer consists on the application of engineering domain knowledge to industry related problems and the later delivery of solutions via software applications. Worked actively in projects related to West Africa assets in conjunction with operations and researchers. My experience includes a training assignment in Houston, Texas of three (3) months of duration. Responsibilities: 1 - Development and testing of Research Applications 2 - Perform data analytics over data coming from multiple data sources 3 - Development of physics and data driven models of facilities hardware (see Patents section) 4 - Identify new opportunities for improvement on testing practices for company assets

May 2012 - Dec 2014
Collaborated in several research engineering projects as an undergraduate student which includes: 1. Project BugSat-ResistoJet: design and testing of a nanosatellite propulsion system. Collaborated in construction and calibration of testing equipment. 2. Project on flat supersonic nozzles: design and performance testing of convergent-divergent flat supersonic nozzles. Performed simulations in Ansys CFX with a posteriori validation through experimental data (Publication: Pedreira, P. H., J. R. Lauretta, and S. D’hers. "Planar Nozzles for Controllable Microthrusters." Journal of Aerospace Engineering (2016): 06016007) 3. Hydrogen high-pressure discharge from coiled tanks: performed Ansys Fluent simulations of the discharge to determine gas temperature evolution
