Receptionist
-
Jan 2014 - Jul 2014
As a vital part of USA International Ballet Competition’s operations, I was the receptionist and assistant to the Director of Finance and Operations and the co-chair of Translators and Interpreters. This temporary role’s responsibilities included answering phones and greeting visitors to the office and acting as a general assistant to the office while handling customer inquiries and fulfilling supply orders for the office. In my day to day work I built an efficient and well-prepared environment to ensure smooth operations. As the assistant to the Director of Finance and Operations, I processed donations and dance class tuition sales in DonorPerfect and Quickbooks. In addition, I reorganized the storage room of merchandise to create a more efficient system while creating an inventory spreadsheet to keep track of what items were sold and donated. Merchandise inventory also included records of the sales related to special events or locations during the competition. For the merchandise sales, I completed merchandise reconciliations for credit card and check sales. As the co-chair of Translators and Interpreters, I managed approximately 40 volunteers. These volunteers were responsible in assisting the non-English speaking dancers and coaches in their daily activities in communicating with the stage crew, staff, donors, host families, and other external partners. Scheduling responsibilities included competitor registration, orientation, technical rehearsals, competition announcements, medical emergencies, and evening events. Show less

Research Staff

Nov 2012 - Dec 2013
I researched breath analysis as a pre-screening process for lung, breast, and thyroid cancer. Through the analysis of biomarkers in exhaled breath, the research focused on determining the chemical compositions related to specific illnesses. As a member of this research team, I met with doctors of local hospitals, clients, and investors to explain the research and develop partnerships. After samples were collected, samples were run through GC-MS and an electronic nose for analysis. During this time, I also supported other research teams by assisting with the technical writing of papers for scientific journals along with translating and editing documents from Korean to English and vice-versa allowing the company to avoid costs from outside translators and editors. Lab Inventory Assistant
-
Jun 2011 - Apr 2012
As a lab inventory assistant, I led a team of three to improve operations by clearing out old laboratories that were used as storage rooms to prepare them for renovations. My team focused on the disposal of chemicals and storage of equipment which required technical expertise and strict adherence to protocol. While the original timeline spanned two months, under my leadership we efficiently worked at a much faster rate, completing the project in two weeks. In addition, we assisted professors and their research groups with operational errands around their labs. Show less

I interned in a nanoscience lab on a research team focused on the use of nanoparticles in detection of harmful substances that included but were not limited to mercury, arsenic, and salmonella in water, food, and soil samples. I assisted senior lab researchers by making stock solutions, inputting data, and cleaning laboratory equipment. I was included as a second author on three papers published by this lab: “Miniaturized Sensor for Microbial Pathogens DNA and Chemical Toxins", “.Sequence-Specific HCV RNA Quantification Using the Size-Dependent Nonlinear Optical Properties of Gold Nanoparticles”, and “Selective Detection of Chemical and Biological Toxins Using Gold-Nanoparticle-Based Two-Photon Scattering Assay.” Show less
