My study elucidated treatment and prevention practices for older children (ages 5-14) in Western Kenya. With malaria efforts typically directed towards children under five and pregnant women, I conducted a mixed-method study in rural villages. Results revealed a worrying trend of increasing prevalence among 5-14 year olds, ameliorated by the neglect in prevention and treatment efforts directed towards them. Results were used by the Kenya Red Cross to adjust their practices. My study elucidated treatment and prevention practices for older children (ages 5-14) in Western Kenya.
