Sharp, skilled, and not entirely without humor - Ross was a pleasure to work with before he moved out of my group to the Design team (I should have known that was coming; anyone who has met Ross knows how competent and talented he is). He's a top-notch designer with great chops and a terrific aesthetic, capable of working without oversight to produce lovely and interesting interactions for the web.

Engineering Lead at FreeWorld. - Built our core product. Our "Student Portal" is a PWA that guides users through each step of our CDL-A program. This enables them to take practice quizzes, RSVP to classes, request stipends, upload documents, get info on their Trucking School and sign our ISA contract. - Built out a suite of internal tools for our Success Coaches and CDL-A Instructors to help them mark attendance, send stipends, approve documents and invoice graduates. - We also maintain an analytics pipeline to Tableau and are building a new marketing site using Astro and Contentful, while growing our Eng team.

I did a short contract with ANHD on the Displacement Alert Project Portal, a tool that allows users to find out a trove of information on any address in NYC using open data sets provided by the city. - Fixed numerous long-standing bugs with data pipelines and UI. Was part of the Summer 2 2019 batch @ Recurse Center. - While here I mentored junior engineers and built consens.us, a "meetup clone" site that was geared towards the needs of activist and community groups. - Implemented user/group accounts, can delete account or download account data, can create/edit/delete meetings of various types, can invite people to groups, RSVP to events, can announce meetings to mailing lists. - The site was built as a Typescript Preact SSR, with server streaming. I used redux-thunk for state management. The server was koa, and the DB was Postgres. - The code is open source and is available on my Github. Happy to discuss this project.

All things Front-End and Growth team @ GoodRx. - I continued to maintain Iodine.com until it was shut down and absorbed into GoodRx as the Drug Info and Side Effects sections. - As a member of the Growth team I improved our main customer funnel via A/B testing using Optimizely, while helping drive more customers to GoodRx via SEO optimization. - As a Front-End Engineer, focused on accessibility work and performance optimization. Software Engineer for iodine.com, which was a free to use, ad-free, drug information and side effects website with content written by actual pharmacists. - Built iodine using React, chartjs and atomic css. The atomic css was generated by a tool I wrote in Stylus. Heavy focus on performance optimization and SEO in order to drive search traffic to the site. This included use of memcache on the serve, implementing the Fastly CDN and stale-while-revalidate header in VCL, and using tools like SpeedCurve to identify performance bottlenecks. - Was the Front-End engineer for the initial launch of https://open.fda.gov, using Gatsby. Built a modern, fast, usable site to 18f design standards, while meeting government regulations regarding accessibility and IE support which required testing in VirtualBox. - I also contributed to our Start app, a mental health wellness app written in React-Native. We were acquired by GoodRx in late 2016.

      - Was the FE engineer on the 2014 site redesign, a complicated grid layout with 5 breakpoints - Implemented unit and visual regression tests, advocated for modernizing development processes - Worked with editorial and design teams on building out long-form stories on a tight deadline. I was asked to implement designs that worked at 60fps on all devices despite huge images, parallaxing, fade ins/outs, animations, etc. I could only use raw JS in the browser, so I relied on RAF, document fragments, picture tags with srcset, etc as needed.
