I’ve had the pleasure of working with Nancy J Hole as both just a colleague and as her subordinate. When I started working at Michigan.com and was trying to figure out my role, Nancy would stop by and discuss things with me. Those discussions provided much more context and allowed me to understand what I was doing and how that connected to the bigger picture. It was also Nancy that floated the idea that I move desks closer to the rest of the team. It was this move that really made me feel a part of the team. That is just one of Nancy’s skills, her ability to bring people together. As my manager, I got to more closely witness the depth and breadth of her digital Knowledge. Between putting together digital training classes, creating uniform sales decks, brainstorming sessions, and providing guidance on campaign strategy it became clear how Nancy had become the beloved and go to source of digital knowledge in the office. Out on calls, I got witness calm and cool nature of Nancy’s ability to have a conversation with anyone. A skill that she utilizes frequently while always making herself available to talk through any issue. Nancy’s ability to bring people together and her communication skills matched with her mastery of digital marketing and advertising knowledge makes her a force to be reckoned with. Any team with J Hole on it, is truly a step above the rest.

Nancy J. Hole. The very name brings a smile to my face. Nancy's presence in a room is difficult to put into words. There is a calming effect knowing that Nancy's product knowledge and engaging personality will be there to keep a meeting running smoothly. There is the enjoyment of watching her speak passionately about digital marketing, which she knows so well but continues to grow in. There is camaraderie as she leads our digital team in brainstorm sessions and training prep, a feeling that she values everyone's participation. Not to be forgotten, there is simply fun. It's rare to find someone who can keep a room in stitches while simultaneously showcasing unquestioned expertise and command. It is this, remarkable, combination of qualities that make Nancy so good at what she does. When I reflect on my time with Gannett, I am thankful to have had someone like Nancy to learn from, to share wins with, and to enjoy being around. I can say without a doubt that any organization with Nancy on board would be better for it, and immensely fortunate!
