Senior Graphic Designer

Mar 2020 - Dec 2021
By creating a design vision for Savills, aligning it with business KPIs and revenue targets and hiring additional designers to our team, I reduced external outsourcing costs, saving us approx. €180,000 per annum.I designed new processes for our team and introduced a project management system, Wrike, to our workflow. This increased the team’s efficiency by 10% by avoiding common bottlenecks and increasing our project uptake.I worked relentlessly to increase the number of business pitches that we worked on in-house by collaborating with our Bids Team in London. This increased the business revenue of pitches worked on from €80,000 value year on year up to €1.3 million in 2021I consistently worked to build trust and develop relationships with all managerial staff to enhance the perceived quality of our team and to provide a seamless experience of the design process.

I curate content and imagery for various websites and social media, sharing across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. I design print and web adverts, liaising with external design agencies and printers to produce high quality collateral. I draft monthly marketing reports for key clients and internal stakeholders. On occasion I produce simple videos to support key events using externally sourced content.

In this role I worked closely with the Marketing Manager in all areas of marketing including the management of social media accounts, (including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram,) ongoing management of corporate website and project management of all key marketing campaigns. I played a key role in developing and streamlining Abernethy’s corporate image after a significant rebrand, was responsible for the design and production of all printed materials and held client-facing roles at a number of exhibitions and events.I was regularly asked to present strategic marketing Ideas and particularly enjoyed developing a fundraising drive to enable vulnerable and disadvantaged groups to make use of the Abernethy centres.

Senior Catering Staff
-
Aug 2011 - Sep 2013
I was responsible for all catering operations at the Abernethy Barcaple residential outdoor centre (up to 60 guests). This included menu planning, meal preparation, staff supervision and training and front-of-house coordination.I started my two years in the Barcaple Kitchen as a gap year worker, and within the year had become one of the kitchen leaders. Our guests were usually School groups, and more often than not, a number of picky eaters!I was responsible for planning meals, preparing food, and supervising our kitchen team, ensuring that a high standard of service was provided both behind the scenes and on front of house.Sometimes one of the aforementioned picky eaters would make a scene in the middle of the dining room, and I would need to respond quickly to calm the situation and come up with a more palatable solution for them. Occasionally I was able to negotiate them into trying the meal we had provided, but sometimes I was required to go back to the kitchen as whip up an alternative meal that they would happily eat. This role was essential in developing the leadership skills I now possess, when I began as Kitchen Leader, I was bossy and overbearing but with the guidance of our Kitchen Manager, I learned to curb these aspects of my personality and to lead in a more appropriate manner by coming alongside my team-mates and encourage them to take ownership of their roles and to cultivate a culture of initiative and freedom in our workplace.I also learned a lot about keeping a cool head and thinking rationally in high stress situations, (like when someone burned dinner and we needed to serve in 30 minutes). developing these also led to developing a lot of patience and this has stood me in good stead when it comes to customer relations.
