Ativa is a medical device startup focused on point-of-care hematology devicesWhile there I led the electrical engineering aspects of a novel hematology device based around flow cytometry, fluorescence and colorimetry. This role involved working with a cross functional team to help troubleshoot instrument problems including chemists, physicists, lab technicians, software engineers, algorithm engineers, mechanical engineersElectronics Design Included:Sensitive analog sensor signal chain, power distribution network consisting of many DC-DC converters and LDO’s, Digital design including Microcontrollers, FPGA’s, ADC’s, DAC’s, USB, SPI, and I2C.A couple of my major accomplishments at Ativa Medical were:1. Reducing noise in the signal chain from 20mV to less than 1mV after taking over project2. Successfully leading a team (as project manager) of engineers and scientists across two time zones to create and review 30+ manufacturing documents finalizing the manufacturing process of an advanced hematology device

IMRIS is an Intra-operative MRI company, developing innovative surgical solutions. My role here began as an RF Coil Engineer where I successfully completed coil designs which were approved by the FDA. I followed this up by a number of research projects including developing a wireless energy harvester. Finally I was part of a team developing force feedback for a robotic surgery device.
