I am honoured to be a part of an organisation that provides evidence based therapy in a unique manner. At Calm and Connected we value making a difference in the moment and we do this through intensive therapy model such as camps and groups. The model assist children and adults to practice skills in the moment and problem solve proactive strategies to assist in scaffolding transferrable skills. We fuel the families and their supports with knowledge and strategies to build capable environments for the person to strive in whatever they dream of doing. My role at Calm and Connected includes: -intake and triage of new referrals; -supporting the Director with audits, policies and procedures, developing different therapy services model and development; -co-leading Behaviour Support Services which includes supervision and training of internal staff to navigate through the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Capability Framework; -supporting families with Improve Daily Living and Improved Relationship budgets with NDIS, Medicare and private paying families; -development of coaching and training modules; and - supporting children, families and therapists at intensive therapy camps and Mother's Retreat. Directions Disability Support Services (Directions) aims to enable individuals with disability by providing personalised one-to-one supports so people can learn life skills, gain independence and be genuinely connected participants in their community. This is inline with the primary goal of Occupational Therapy which is to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life. Directions collaborates with Local Area Coordinators under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) , Disability Services Commision and NDIS Western Australia-My Way Coordinators to provide a high quality service to the community.As an Occupational Therapist, my primary role at Directions is to ensures that all plans and activities are based on individuals’ strengths and abilities. Carinya Care Services has a high care (palliative and demetia), a medium care and a low care nursing home. Carinya also offers Transition Care Program to support therapeutic interventions for older adults to return home safely or prevent de-conditioning with individuals awaiting for nursing home placement. The Centre for Diabetes Research (CDR) is a highly funded medical research group performing animal and human work in Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and Type 2 Diabetes (T2D). CDR is part of the world-wide Type 1 Diabetes Genetics Consortium, and the leading collaborative networks across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region in assembling resources to identify the genes which affect the risk of developing T1D. I coordinate the Australian Childhood Diabetes DNA Repository (ACDDR) project which started in 2005. The ACDDR is a DNA Consortium which recruits saliva samples from families with children affected by T1D or T2D nationwide. The aim of the ACDDR is to provide a large amount of DNA samples available for other Diabetes Researches who are interested in studying the genetics constitution for Diabetes. Responsibilities: 1. Coordinating with Chief Investigator, Professor Grant Morahan and collaborating with other Investigators and Research Nurses nationwide. 2.
