It is my pleasure to recommend Marissa Rathbone for the 2010 White House Internship Summer Program. It has been a pleasure to have known and worked closely with Marissa over the past few years. As the Associate Commissioner for Educator Policy and Standards with the Texas Education Agency, I worked closely with Marissa in her capacity as Director (Statewide Coordinator) for Health and Safety. Through her work with the legislature, non-profits and partnering agencies, I can attest to her dedication to success and strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Marissa is a resourceful, creative, and solution-oriented person who was frequently able to come up with new and innovative approaches to her assigned areas of expertise. While Marissa worked under my supervision, I felt she displayed superior written and verbal communication skills. Marissa is a hard-working self-starter who invariably understands exactly what a project is all about from the outset, and how to get it done quickly and effectively. She has an ability to bring creative ideas to the table while shedding new light on sustained issues. Marissa has continued to be a good public servant in her career, and has consistently made time for community service in her personal life. She has demonstrated a high degree of loyalty and trustworthiness to her work, her associates and continues to carry out her obligations with vigor and resolve. In closing, based on my experience working with her, I can unreservedly recommend Marissa Rathbone.

Marissa Rathbone is a nonprofit rock star...a consummate professional. She harnesses her passionate being in service of a better world. With her keen intellect harnessed to her desire to make a difference, she hits the ground running----and the world knows it. And is better for it. Outstanding communication skills team up with her high energy and positivity and the result is contagious. Colleagues, collaborators, and clients adore Marissa. She champions fearlessly, organizes deftly, creates seamlessly and keeps her eye on the prize. I cannot recommend her more highly (tho for anyone who wants sleepy 'business as usual', I'd say look elsewhere, because Marissa is a change agent!)
