Process development and optimization for optical waveguide fabrication. An integral member of the technical team responsible for developing the first optical-based touch-screen system suitable for handheld or large displays. Prototype assembly and test. Optical testing, characterization and feedback. Optical device design, test and feedback; photo-mask design, layout and optimization. Knowledge and understanding of usage and maintenance of semi-conductor tools. Operation of a Class 100 cleanroom for photonic device fabrication; large quantities of process optimization using control systems, data logging, and optimization for HVAC. Contractor administration and interaction, establishing technical and contractual requirements. Patent review and prior art searches. Environmental testing of unpackaged and packaged samples. Supervised interns, and collaborated with undergraduate class lectures and tours. Building fire warden. • Many years of semiconductor process optimization – ultimately leading from small-scale one-off prototyping to mass manufacture capabilities. • Thus developing a sound approach to proprietary research with the aim of commercial gain. • Several multi-system operational prototypes demonstrated to investors, customers and manufacturing partners at critical timings. E.g. funding rounds, conferences, partner visits. • Reviewed pilot production capabilities and requirements; inspections of mass-manufacturing equipment – established a pilot plant and took delivery of sensitive equipment.
