  As Mentor I helped children (mostly in upper secondary school) with the things in school that they found difficult. My subjects were maths and physics. I helped with daily homework and assisted with grasping difficult concepts; the goal was better understanding, more independence, and more self-confidence. In this job, I have learned valuable lessons on communication, teaching, and understanding.   I worked on the Dako Omnis project, a large medical device for histological staining, which was under development at that time. My job consisted of testing and validation of software functionality as well as hardware integration in an Agile software development project. I worked extensively with test-specifications and documentation (GDP). I became comfortable with Microsoft Windows from an administrative point of view, and worked with servers, databases, scripts, commands.   I founded Substance in 2012 in partnership with a software developer. Substance worked with branding and internet presence. We focused mostly on website development and design, but also graphic design, print production and photography. At Substance, my daily tasks fell into several categories: 1) User interface design, graphic design, photography, illustration 2) Web-development in PHP, JavaScript, WordPress, including themes and plugins 3) Search engine optimisation, marketing, gaining exposure 3) Customer relations, customer service, selling, branding 4) Accounting, billing, management, tax statements, strategy The experience of performing all functions in a small business (simultaneously) gave me insight that I still use and value today. I think that I am a better and more empathetic colleague, because I have some understanding of all functions in a business, and their individual perspectives. Show less
