As a field technician, my primary role is to work with a small team conducting transect surveys in which we search for evidence of Goshawk activity (whitewash, prey remains, nest structures, etc.) and the birds themselves using alarm call playback. Day-to-day tasks include using a GPS device and compass to navigate along a transect, recording geolocations of Goshawk evidence, carefully assessing backcountry hazards (stream crossings, extremely steep terrain, wildlife interactions), and clearly communicating those findings and hazards with a small team.
