• Collected census data in some of Vancouver’s most challenging neighbourhood. Assigned areas had high percentage of homeless and transient people as well as those with mental health problems. Used a human-centred approach clear, concise communication along with great empathy and patience to gain trust in order to conduct long-form surveys until the quota for the geographic area was completed. • Upon successful census data gathered for the Downtown Eastside, was assigned to the Granville South and the Musqueam Indian Reserve to help fill the quota required to gather sufficient census data for those areas. In the Granville South area, was faced with many absentee residents as well as many residents who were unaware of the purpose of our visit and the value of census data. The Musqueam Indian Reserve required a great deal of trust and respect for their land and people before entry was permitted onto their reserve. Achieved successful quotas by applying effective trust-building skills using empathy and effective listening skills along with transparent, easy to understand communication to help them understand the important role they played in gathering census data.
