Dissertation: "Cryo-EM Structures of Free Monomeric and Rrn3-bound RNA Polymerase I Unveil the Structural Changes in the Transition from Inactive Dimers to the Activated State" As a PhD student I was able to learn: - Molecular cloning - Heterologous protein expression in E. coli and insect cells - Endogenous expression of a macromolecular complex from S. cerevisiae - Protein purification - In vitro reconstitution of a supramolecular protein complex - Sample preparation, data collection and image processing by negative-staining electron microscopy and cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) - Pseudo-atomic model building of proteins (rigid-body real-space refinement) I have contributed to two published articles: - Torreira, E.*, J.
