Workers like Twyla Sampaco are one in a billion. Not only did she put 110% into whatever she was doing, but she constantly demonstrated how much she cared about the job, and the people under her, myself included. For more than a year, I had the pleasure of working under her exemplary leadership as she drove the team onto new and challenging projects. One thing I was particularly was impressed with was her ability to manage her team with skill and fine finesse. Twyla is also easy to approach and talk to, whether about the project in hand, the team dynamic, or any problems that might show up. Twyla was always ready with kind words and stickers, and every once in a while, delicious treats. To those who might pass on hiring Twyla Sampaco as an employee, I pity the mistake they made, for Twyla is, in layman's terms, The Complete Package.

Working under Twyla for the past year has been a wonderful experience which has furthered my professional growth. She is a detail-oriented worker who picks up quickly on new tools and processes. Determined and focused, she works well coordinating with others to get the job done. Her success leading multiple pilot projects at Google demonstrates her ability to lead and interpret policy in situations with ambiguity. I believe this is because she is a creative problem solver; often she would generate new ideas to improve processes and problems within our team and our work space as a whole. One of my favorite qualities about her is that she actively looks for constructive criticism, both positive and negative, in order to improve herself. At Google, she never took anything personally, but instead noted her POD’s feedback and took it to heart; she continuously adjusted her teaching and leadership styles to meet the needs of her POD. On top of her technical and leadership abilities, she was also a great mentor. She frequently looked for people’s strengths and reached out to us with opportunities for growth within the company, or simply to remind us that she was here to listen to our concerns. She encouraged me to apply for and seek out new opportunities at Google where she felt I could excel, and pushed me to believe in my abilities. She would make a strong, creatively-minded leader in any office place.

Contract through RandstadI assisted a team of 6 to 25 data specialists by providing training and guidance with tool usage and debugging, interpreting policy, and facilitating communication between operators and management. I also aided in the development of policies and workflows, handled project documentation, and kept track of operator productivity and performance. One highlight was concurrently managing the primary stages of several major pilot projects, two of which have since expanded into full time programs with personnel in the Hyderabad, Mountain View, and Bothell offices. I had the opportunity to shape policy and tool functionality by collaborating with engineering and product teams to give and receive feedback, and I learned so much about taking a good idea and making it into a functional, scaleable, and productive reality.
