    • 300 - 400 Employee
    • Master's Student
      • Apr 2022 - Present

      • In the HUPO World Congress 2023 (Busan), I won the First Place Award in the poster competition in the graduate student category, surpassing 237 other presenters from top Ph.D. programs at top universities worldwide despite being only a Master's student.• My Master's thesis focuses on the development of innovative statistical and machine learning algorithms for analyzing tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) data in untargeted bottom-up proteomics. • Specifically, I am developing a novel machine learning model based on non-negative tensor factorization (NTF) for the analysis of data-independent acquisition MS (DIA-MS) data. My current results showed that NTF can identify more peptides and proteins than the conventional leading DIA-MS analysis tool. Show less

    • Teaching Assistant
      • Apr 2023 - Aug 2023

I was a teaching assistant for the course Analytical Chemistry I, which was taught by Prof. Yasushi ISHIHAMA at the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kyoto University. My task was to check and grade the assignments submitted by the undergraduate students at the end of each lecture.

    • Research Intern, specializing in Computational Proteomics
      • Oct 2021 - Mar 2022

      • I conducted this program in Professor Yasushi ISHIHAMA's laboratory.• During this internship, I gained knowledge in the fundamentals of tandem mass spectrometry and untargeted bottom-up proteomics, specifically focusing on data-independent acquisition MS. I also acquired skills in using tools for DIA-MS analysis, such as MaxDIA (MaxQuant-DIA), Spectronaut, and DIA-NN.• Ultimately, this research internship prepared me for my pursuit of a Master's degree at Kyoto University, where I continued my studies in Professor ISHIHAMA's laboratory starting in April 2022. • University Research Associate I
      • Jul 2020 - Sep 2021

As a URA, my main responsibilities were: • Performing transcriptome analyses on eggplant fruit and shoot borer (Leucinodes orbonalis) to identify suspected genes related to pest herbivory and insecticide resistance. • Conducting RNA-seq quality analyses using FastQC and MultiQC, as well as de novo transcriptome assembly using Trinity, and transcriptome assembly analyses using BUSCO and TransRate. • Performing differential transcript expression analyses using RSEM, DESeq2, & edgeR, as well as putative herbivory transcript mining, SSR markers prediction, and SNP markers prediction. • Contributing to the metagenomic analyses of two other projects on Philippine endemic stingless bee (Tetragonula biroi) and silkworm (Bombyx mori) gut metagenome using QIIME2, QIIME2-PICRUSt2, and Mothur, with the aid of the GreenGenes and SILVA reference databases.
