Anne worked in my researchgroup for almost 5 years as a highly motivated, well-organized PhD student. With a cum laude Master's degree she applied for an AMC PhD Scholarship and wrote her own project proposal on a challenging subject, the role of glia support cells in the brain in Huntington's Disease. Out of many candidates she was selected for the Scholarship and worked very disciplined on various related projects, being very structured and organized, and supervised by two different PI's from different institutes (expertise on glia cells and HD, respectively). Anne also wrote her own postdoc grant proposal (Huntington Stimulation Grant) which she received. Anne is well capable to discuss her data and insights during debats, and being also very social I can only highly recommend her!

As a PhD student at the Rudolf Magnus Institute, I have had the pleasure of supervising Anne during her 6 month internship. I know Anne as a hardworking student, who is not afraid of a challenge. She is devoted to her work, works independently and takes up full responsibility for the tasks assigned to her. Her perseverance to tackle problems really helped in ensuring progress of the project. Besides being a nice colleague to work with in the lab, Anne provides valuable input regarding the setup of planned experiments, acting at a professional level outperforming most of her peers. Finally, Anne is a great team player and would fit perfectly in any organization.

Research topic: The role of glial cells in the pathogenesis of Huntington's diseaseI obtained this position by writing my own grant proposal, that got awarded with an AMC PhD fellowship. I work on the role of a specific type of brain cells, the glial cells in Huntington's disease. I set up this project myself. Next to conducting research and planning new experiments, I have learned to supervise students (Bachelor and Master), to manage my own project and report on its progress.
