Having known Claire for 19 years and having worked alongside her for 8 years (from 2001 to 2008 inclusive), I can honestly say that she is one of the most inspirational and driven leaders I know. You can be sure whatever Claire puts her mind to she will achieve and always much, much more than anyone could ever expect. Her drive and energy know no bounds and her track record in delivering successful, thriving and sustainable organisations speaks for itself. Her standards are incredibly high and she frequently encourages those around her to achieve way more than they thought they could. Claire is a highly skilled senior leader with a proven track record in innovative strategic and organisational development and change management; she is persuasive, articulate and highly committed to everything she does. She is an expert in her field and a highly regarded charity sector leader. I am not sure that I would have made the leap into my first Chief Executive role 11 years ago without Claire’s encouragement and belief in me, I will always be grateful for the support she showed me as she has with countless others.

Claire's leadership and innovation is inspiring. Her ability to see the bigger picture and her outcomes focus, enables people to move from operational to strategic thinking. She can work with people at all levels because she has a great skill of quickly establishing individual strengths and uses them to really get the best out of people and obtain the best outcome for an organisation. The thing I value most is her positive attitude to change and how it can improve experiences for people, organisations and beneficiaries. I hope I will have the opportunity to continue to learn from her in the future.

We honour and care for the 1.7 million men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died in the First and Second World Wars, ensuring they will never be forgotten. Funded by six Member Governments, our work began with building, and now maintaining, cemeteries and memorials at 23,000 locations, in 153 countries across the world. We care for and protect some of the world’s most iconic memorials, including The Menin Gate, Ypres; The Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme, France; The Canadian National Memorial Vimy Ridge, France; The South African National Memorial - Delville Wood, France, The Indian Memorial Neuve-Chapelle, France; New Zealand Memorial, Chanukah Bair, Gallipoli; The Australian National War Memorial Villers-Bretonneux, France. It is the world-wide work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission that has for over a century, established a global remembrance landscape, that has helped shape the deeply felt values and culture of commemoration and remembrance we know today. The battlefields may be long gone, but our cemeteries, memorials, records, events, community and outreach programmes remain an important and abiding memorial to all those who fell. They are the last physical and human reminders we have of those world-changing conflicts.

Since its establishment in 1860 Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has cared for over 3 million animals. The organisation is one of the nation's most respected & longest-standing charities, with c90% brand recognition it is ranked a UK Top 10 best known charity. Battersea is recognised as probably the most famous animal refuge in the World. We are here for those dogs & cats no-one else wants or other rescues won't take. We see the best and the worst of people and we pick up the pieces of a throwaway society where animals are bred & traded like commodities & discarded when they are no longer of use. Battersea's doors are open 24/7/365. We are committed to sharing our operational knowledge & expertise with colleagues & organisations around world. Battersea is a renowned & highly respected international training organisation. Operating across 79 countries, Battersea’s International Academy brings together expert practitioners to create a global alumni, sharing best practice that will improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of animals. We work directly with Government, ministers, politicians, industry stakeholder groups & other welfare bodies to revise & review legislation and policy. We advise international Governments on welfare issues. We tackle problems at source & through our extensive community outreach, delivering multiple education programmes & awareness events in some of London's most disadvantaged areas, with gangs, children & young people, community groups, in YOI's and prisons. Our hugely successful TVseries "Paul O Grady, For the Love of Dogs' takes us behind the scenes at Battersea reaching c70 million viewers every series. This show has raised the profile of rescue and benefitted tens of thousands of dogs & cats. It is now screening in over 20 countries. With no Government funding, we are completely reliant on the generosity of our donors, supporters, corporate and trust partners & our incredible friends and Ambassadors & we are forever grateful.
