Using stable isotopes of carbon, nitrogen and sulphur to create a food web in Cockburn Sound linking the main pelagic, demersal and benthic fish and invertebrate species. This is part of a joint project with Murdoch University and the Western Australian Museum funded by the Western Australian Marine Science Institution

“Organic Matter and Nitrogen Cycling in a Heavily Modified Coastal Lagoon”Using elemental concentrations and stable isotopes, I traced particulate and dissolved organic matter and nutrient sources in the Vasse Wonnerup Wetland System, Busselton WA. Using stable isotopes, I was able to discern N cycling pathways within the water column and sediment porewaters. Finally, I determined the flux of nutrients and greenhouse gases from the sediment and whether the water column dissolved oxygen concentration and seasonal drying of the sediment influenced the relative flux.

    • Research Assistant
      • Aug 2013 - Mar 2016

Part of a multidisciplinary team on a WAMSI funded project in collaboration with UWA and CSIRO. The project looked into the effects of dredging (light reduction and sediment burial) on seagrass in NW Australia with an aim to inform management. Responsibilities included field work and laboratory work, data management, contributions to reports and overall research aims. I also supervised and taught any volunteers associated with the project.
