I have observed Spencer in the work place whilst he was studying for his L3 Diploma in Digital Learning Design. You can tell from his peers that he was appreciated for his enthusiasm to learn and share his knowledge with others. For example, the AR Merge Cube, moodle and the Class VR system. He has an easy going nature and I would recommend him as a trusted member of the team to experiment with new things as well as getting on with the task in hand.

I recruited Spencer as an Apprentice e-Learning Technologist in Autumn 2017 after a colleague in our Apprenticeship team told me, "You have to talk to this guy. He is amazing!" What struck me about Spencer, as we discussed the role informally, was his level of maturity and empathy. He was keen to unpick the role and look at how the College could genuinely benefit from his skills and potential. His passion for working with people and technology shone through, even then. On the day of the interview, Spencer aced the task (to deliver hands-on training). He had prepared thoroughly and built an instant rapport with the learners (staff). He was unfazed when the laptops we had provided suddenly went offline, and he calmly described a contingency plan they could adopt, should the problem persist. The feedback from colleagues post-session was superlative. Over the past two years, Spencer's confidence and professionalism have grown significantly. His interest in innovation, accessibility and Universal Design have informed both his approach at HRC and his work for Sparsholt College on the Apprenticeship in Digital Learning Design, which he is due to complete by around Christmas 2019. Spencer is trustworthy, approachable and has proved a real hit with students and staff alike. If you are looking for a Learning Technologist in the early stages of their career, with a qualification in Digital Learning and a flexible and collaborative approach to work, Spencer would be a great choice.

Learning Support Worker (e-Learning based)
-
Sep 2020 - Nov 2020
Within this role, I was focused on supporting one individual, who was unable to enter college, during the current climate. This support focused predominantly on the use of MS Teams, Moodle etc. to further their education and support them along their learning journey. This role was a great way to put the skills I learnt within my previous roles into practice (remote learning in particular).

Junior e-Learning Technologist
-
Jan 2020 - Jun 2020
Within this role, I carried over all of my continuing responsibilities from my apprenticeship role (administration of HRC's Virtual Learning Environment, promotion of new e-Learning tools and resources, administration of HRC's Digital Signage system etc.).Furthermore, I also worked with select individuals to heighten their use of e-Learning tools and technology and, where possible, selected and implemented areas for improvement. Once the member of staff had been familiarised with the technology, I reviewed their progress to see if the new tool had an affect on the success of the session and, hopefully, improving the session as a whole. Apprentice e-Learning Technologist
-
Nov 2017 - Dec 2019
Within my previous role, my main aspiration or focus was to integrate and implement digital skills into the classroom - be this through new programs and applications that I researched and explored (which may be better suited for specific learners or those with additional needs); supporting staff and students with the various programs used frequently around the college (Moodle - HRC's VLE, ProMonitor, the Office 365 suite etc.) I also strived to help anyone who seems to be struggling with any digital based activities - printing, MS Office 365 support, miscellaneous laptop issues etc.During my time in this role; I also led some sessions relating to new digital applications and plugins - such as the H5P Moodle plugin (which I also created an array of e-Learning videos for, to support teaching staff). I also helped out within the Library on numerous occasions: using Eclipse (the college's Library Management System) to issue books to students; taking booking to use computers; basic customer support and service etc.I have also been told how adaptive, patient and accommodating I am when helping those with additional needs and those that may struggle using tech on a day-to-day basis.
