Shawn Marler
Sterling was an engaging new District Executive that worked very hard to build confidence in the volunteers of the Osceola District. He always asked questions and continually thought of new ways to grow Scouting, not just in his district, but in other areas too. For example, Sterling volunteered as a Sea Scout Skipper in another district, partially out of the love of sailing, but also because it expanded the program options for youth in the Central Florida area. He was always focused on making sure that the end result was positive for the Scouts in the program.

To whom it may concern ! Sterling an Eagle Scout that is both youthful and charismatic in ever facet of work ethics. When he worked for Central Florida Council in June of 2013 to December of 2013. He was the Best and brightest District Executive we had in a long time. He always had a positive attitude toward his work. His building skills on membership are far from and above Excellence. The one example of the membership drive I can remember is that he had single highhandedly recruited 56 youth at one School. Which built up one unit. Many other youth have be placed in to other units which placed our membership drive above Gold status . A form of measurement which is used by the Boy Scouts of America. I only wished we had him for a longer period of time. I am sure Central Florida Council would take him back with out question. He has many skills which could be used in the open market. But I feel he is best served in Scouting. He has the knowledge , the know how and the stamina to proceed forward and become a large success . The positive thought I would have to write a volume of his success in the industry of Scouting. The relationships he builds in days with the scouters makes him a People person. Any further information need . Please do not hesitate to call ! I only wish we had never lost him. He is a winner !

Through connections with local Scouting programs, I grew the annual giving campaign by over 10% and am on track to raise over $100,000 in less than 2 years. In addition to my day to day activities I served as the Sea Scouting Staff Adviser. In this capacity I oversee a separate committee of 30+ volunteers, a fleet of 3 vessels (and growing) in Lake Michigan and a separate set of budgets. Show less
