Today there is a societal demand for sustainable products and solutions in the plastics markets, and our task is to educate and inform policy makers and a wider public alike about bioplastics' environmental benefits. There are two major advantages of biobased plastics products compared to their conventional versions: they save fossil resources by using biomass which regenerates. Besides carbon neutrality, biodegradability is an add-on property of certain types of bioplastics. It offers additional means of recovery at the end of a product’s life. European Bioplastics supports the market introduction of disposable, semi-durable and durable bioplastics products by creating favourable technical, technological and regulatory framework conditions.
