As NCADD's writer, editor, and researcher, my responsibilities include blogging and social media updates; researching and crafting longer pieces on matters relating to addiction and recovery; writing and editing agency language on publications; and other tasks as requested. I built and maintain two agency CMS websites, and employ my graphic design skills to design reusable agency publications.My two consecutive terms of national service for the AmeriCorps VISTA program have also enabled me to provide similar support to local Teens Against Tobacco Use (TATU) and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) chapters operated by our agency. My community collaboration included membership on two consecutive Recovery Month committees; the administration of two, 12-week workshops on PSA creation for the Juneau-Douglas High School CHOICE program; the co-facilitation of 10 overnight retreats for at-risk youth; and hold the position of treasurer for a ballot initiative group lobbying to increase Juneau’s cigarette tax.

As Graduate Assistant for Temple University’s Conflict Education Resource Team (C.E.R.T.), I received 40 hours of training in mediation methodology, and 80 hours in conflict management techniques. I used this training to co-conduct several mediation sessions as well as hour-long “conflict coachings” that were administered to college students. I also delivered numerous presentations to students relating to conflict management. In addition, I was responsible for mentoring and managing a small staff of undergraduate students that constituted C.E.R.T. Finally, I was responsible for the daily management of program operations, including record keeping and scheduling.
